Do you compare yourself to others who seem to have it all? Do you put yourself down? Do you believe you are lacking in some way?
Could self-defeating beliefs and behaviors be holding you back from creating the life you want?
Sometimes we hold onto hurtful messages that tell us we’re not smart, capable, attractive, deserving, etc., etc. If we heard those things as kids, we didn’t have the maturity or the insight to know that those things might not be true — because big people tell you how things really are, right? So we internalize those messages, and even as adults we can pull them out and keep believing them. “If you do that, you ought to get a second opinion!” says Cynthia McKenna, a licensed professional counselor.
In today’s show, host Lana Walker-Helmuth and guest Cynthia McKenna talk about learning to accept ourselves — and what happens when we don’t.

Did you know that the biggest impediments to realizing the life of your dreams may be the limitations programmed into your subconscious? Your genetically programmed instincts and your beliefs learned from your parents and society form the subconscious mind — and it’s your subconscious, operating behind the scenes, that primarily drives your behaviors.
For example, you may consciously want to lose 25 pounds, but your subconscious may contain a belief that being slim is somehow a threat. Or maybe you want to make $150,000 per year, but a subconscious belief says that well-to-do people are bad. In both cases, it will be extremely difficult to lose the weight and make the money you want.
Listen in as host Lana Walker-Helmuth explores this intriguing subject with Susan Kimball, a psychotherapist who helps clients discover the subconscious beliefs that may be stopping them from creating the life they want.
